Texas Executive Education develops online program format

Earlier this Spring, Texas Executive Education began exploring a format for offering online e-learning programs. Through a series of videos and virtual web-based discussions, a customized entrepreneurship program was developed and provided online for participants at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB).

Titled Business Innovation for Successful Entrepreneurship, the rich 12-week curriculum aims to help medical professionals enhance their knowledge and skills in:

• Evaluating the market potential of new technologies
• Bringing new technologies to market
• Creating profit, growth and wealth in the process.

The online program was held over twelve consecutive weeks, with each week consisting of two hours of e-learning video presentations and one hour of live interactive discussion via web-based software. Each video presentation contained a series of lectures by UT/McCombs professors interspersed with interviews of successful MSTC-graduate entrepreneurs, as well as individual exercises and case studies.

Several of the UT professors involved with this online project also regularly teach executive education courses, including Dr. John Daly, Dr. Kate Mackie and Dr. Rob Adams.

Texas Executive Education plans to continue exploring ways in which an e-learning format could provide added benefit to its open enrollment and corporate executive development programs in the near future.
