Apr. 8th – VIP Speaker Ahmed Mahmoud

Please join us as Dean Gilligan interviews Ahmed Mahmoud, Chief Information Officer of Advanced Micro Devices, on the many successes of his career. Ahmed Mahmoud is responsible for AMD’s global information technology strategy and the company’s IT assets. Prior to joining AMD, Mahmoud spent 13 years at Dell, where he served as Vice President of IT. Through his insight, students can gain advice on how to lead successful careers.

The event will consist of an interview given by Dean Gilligan followed by an open floor question and answer period. It will take place on April 8th at WCH 1.120. This event is open to all University of Texas at Austin students and staff, as well as the general public. Please arrive early as the event will begin promptly at 5:30. The series is organized and sponsored by the Undergraduate Business Council.

Welcome to the Beltway: A Week in Washington, D.C.

7th Annual “Welcome to the Beltway” – A Week in Washington, D.C. May 24th-28th

“Welcome to the Beltway” is a five-day seminar and visit to the nation’s capital hosted by the Archer Center and the DC Texas Exes. The seminar is for undergraduates, graduate students and alumni of the University of Texas System to learn about potential career opportunities in fields such as government, politics, business, law, communication and non-profits.

The program includes:

  • Career Panel Discussions
  • Networking Receptions/Events
  • Young Professionals Luncheon
  • Sightseeing Tours

The program fee is $395/person and includes 4 nights of lodging, career panels, sightseeing tours, evening receptions, several meals and lunch with young professionals living in D.C. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, so get your application in early. Are you interested in taking your leadership experiences on the 40 Acres to the next level? Leave a lasting legacy on campus by joining the University of Texas Leadership and Ethics Institute (LEI) Student Leadership Team!

LEI is a leadership initiative in the Office of the Dean of Students that provides training for current undergraduate and graduate students. We are currently looking for students who are motivated and qualified, and who make it a priority to continuously develop their leadership skills.

Call for Nominations: BHP Outstanding Student and Doenges Awards

This award is presented to the five graduating Business Honors students, who in the judgment of their peers, the Honors Program faculty and the Honors Program Faculty Committee, have distinguished themselves in academics and leadership.

 

Nominations should provide evidence concerning the nominee’s:

1)           Non-academic contributions to UT, the CBA and/or the BHP 

2)           Distinction among his/her peers in the Honors Program, and

3)           Academic excellence.

 

The five winners will receive a plaque and will be named on the master plaque hanging in the BHP office.

 

From among the five winners of this award a recipient will be selected to receive the:

 

R. Conrad Doenges Award for Academic Excellence and Leadership

in the Business Honors Program

 

The Award, named after Dr. Doenges, a previous Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, who was instrumental in developing the BHP, consists of a plaque and a thousand dollar honorarium.

LAH Quiz Bowl

It’s that time of year again for Honors Quiz Bowl! Each year LAHSC hosts a quiz bowl in which various honors organizations around campus compete against each other in a trivia challenge. This year’s contest will be on Sunday April 11 from 1:00-3:00.
