The Canfield BHP Alumni Advisory Board is pleased to welcome new board members Raquel Baldelomar, Susan Thomson, Clinton Biondo, and Kapil Mathur!

Every year the CBHP Alumni Advisory Board meets to guide the direction and accomplish the mission of the business honors program. It is comprised of Canfield BHP alumni who share the goal of supporting and improving one of UT’s finest undergraduate programs. In particular, the Advisory Board assists in fundraising, student recruitment, student mentorship, alumni engagement, and helps to increase the overall awareness of Canfield BHP.

Raquel Baldelomar Headshot

Raquel Baldelomar

Raquel Baldelomar (BHP, Class of 2001) is the Founder and CEO of Quaintise, a marketing and branding agency, based in Santa Monica. For over 15 years, Quaintise has produced award-winning creative content for clients in the health and hospitality sectors. She is also the Founder and CEO of HPD Rx, a leading health and wellness e-commerce company focused on providing supplements for women’s health and immunity. 

Raquel has a finance degree from the MBA-modeled Canfield Business Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin and began her career managing private equity portfolios as a financial analyst for JP Morgan Private Bank. In 2003, Raquel launched Quaintise and has served leading organizations by building their brand currencies through compelling storytelling, strong messaging, and visually engaging creative assets.

In 2015, Raquel decided to devote more time to one of her passions — changing the conversation of healthcare from sick care management to disease prevention. She is co-author of the book Sugar Crush: How to Reduce Inflammation, Reverse Nerve Damage and Reclaim Good Health

She is a contributing writer for Luxury Travel Magazine, Forbes, and CNN focusing on stories related to executive health, wellness, and how travel stimulates creativity. In her spare time, Raquel enjoys working out, dining, cooking, and traveling. She lives in Santa Monica, CA, and plays soccer in her local women’s soccer league twice a week.

Susan Thomson

Susan Thomson is an Emmy award-winning documentary producer and media consultant. Susan produced Tower, an animated film focusing on the unsung heroes of the sniper shooting at the University of Texas. Tower won the SXSW Film Festival and was nominated for multiple awards, including a Producers Guild Award and a Peabody Award. Susan also produced A Song For You: The Austin City Limits Story, which premiered at the SXSW Festival. 

Susan co-founded and co-produced FilmMatters, a film festival panel series that explored the use of film to encourage social change. She spent over twelve years as a media consultant in Dallas, Los Angeles, and London, with roles at Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Really Useful Group”, and the BBC. Susan is a graduate of the ALL ATX program, which unites Austin music industry leaders in an effort to preserve Austin’s identity as a thriving music town. She is currently leading the development of a city-wide Music day for Austin students. Susan is a member of the Producers Guild of America and she serves on the African Children’s Choir Advisory Board.

 

Clinton Biondo Headshot

Clinton Biondo

Clinton Biondo graduated from the BHP at UT with a Finance degree in 2001. Clinton is a Managing Partner of Fir Tree Partners, a New York-based private investment firm that invests worldwide in public and private companies. Clinton co-oversees all investment activities of the Firm and is jointly responsible for the general management and development of the investment team. He has over 20 years of investment and finance experience and has led many of the firm’s distressed credit, structured credit, and residential real estate investments.   

Prior to Fir Tree, Clinton worked at the Blackstone Group and Welsh Carson Anderson and Stowe. Clinton has been involved in a number of philanthropic and community-based organizations over the years, including Baptist Founders Society, serving as Trustee for RAMBAM, Crystal Academy, and Golden Cane Society.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and coaching his two young sons in basketball. Clinton has additionally competed for over a decade in the Wall Street Decathlon benefiting Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, including seven consecutive top executive awards along with a 2nd place overall finish.

 

Kapil Mathur Headshot

Kapil Mathur

Kapil Mathur is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley (Sugar Land Branch Manager) and joined the Firm in 2010. He serves as Chief Investment Officer and Managing Partner of The Math Group, a team of eleven professionals that serves leading families throughout the United States. Mr. Mathur is a Family Wealth Director, Senior Portfolio Management Director, and Financial Advisor, and is Co-Chair of the Firm’s 2,500+ member Multicultural Employee Networking Group. Mr. Mathur is a member of Morgan Stanley’s Chairman’s Club and is a perennial member of the Forbes Best in State Financial Advisor list.

Notable accomplishments:

Previously, Mr. Mathur was an investment banker, private equity investor, and consultant. He was with McKinsey & Company in Houston, Dell Corporate Strategy, and MSD Capital’s Private Equity group. He holds a B.B.A in Business Honors and Finance from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Mr. Mathur is a member of the Board of Directors of Magic Bus USA, the Cullinan Park Conservancy Advisory Board, and the UT Business Honors Program Alumni Advisory Board. He serves as President of Magic Bus Houston and is a Past President of the Harvard Business School Club of Houston.

Mr. Mathur is a proud Canadian by birth and lives in Sugar Land Texas with his wife Dr. Sheela Parekh and their children Shan and Karina. He enjoys soccer, travel, wine tasting, and philanthropy.
