4/15-4/21: United to Serve Week of Service
The Volunteer and Service Learning Center (VSLC) is pleased to announce a partnership with UT Student Government, Graduate Student Assembly and Senate of College Councils to observe the United to Serve Week of Service. United to Serve is an annual system-wide initiative of The University of Texas and is designed to unite each campus in service during National Volunteer Week. This year’s campaign will take place April 15-21, 2012.
With a call to “Serve. Reflect. Celebrate.” the VSLC urges the UT student body to volunteer their time and talents to service projects coordinated through this effort. Organize a group, or sign-up individually, to participate in one of the many service opportunities available. Visit United to Serve to sign-up for a service project and answer the call to serve.

The Project is The University of Texas at Austin’s largest day of service, and we can’t wait for over 2000 students, faculty, and staff to meet and work with the residents of Dove Springs/Onion Creek communities on February 25th from 9a-5pm! Registration is now open for volunteers and opportunities exist to work in teams too! For questions, please contact.

11/16: “Thanks Day” Volunteers Needed
“Thanks Day – Students Hooked on Texas” will be held on November 16, 2011. The goal of “Thanks Day” is to facilitate individual students personally thanking our McCombs alums who give back to the school. This is a University wide event, so we want to be sure McCombs has a great showing!
How you can help:
- Volunteer to staff the signing tables; half hour shifts are available – SIGN-UP Here!
- Stop by the area outside Dean Gilligan’s Office and in the Atrium during McCombs Town Hall to write a thank you note to an alum that has given back to the school.
With your support we are confident that McCombs will be the most thankful school at UT! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me or Keary Kinch.
We are also preparing for the 2012 BBA Legacy Campaign and we are looking for co-chairs and volunteers to make this year’s campaign better than ever. If you would like to work on a highly visible campaign that strengthens your class ties and encourages philanthropy to your alma mater, please contact me at laura.welch@mccombs.utexas.edu.

Volunteer/Internship Opportunity: Latinitas
Latinitas is a non-profit organization for young Latinas in the Austin area. Our mission is to empower young Latinas via media and technology. To do this, we host after-school clubs for girls at 12 of the surrounding middle and high schools. We are looking for female college students who are willing to volunteer in leading these after-school clubs. These clubs give the girls an opportunity to express themselves through writing, film etc. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to mentor girls and a dedication to about 6-10 hours a week. This opportunity could be solely volunteer-based, or could even be used towards an internship. We are very flexible. To those interested please contact Brooke at: latinitasbrooke@gmail.com or call the office at: 512.447.4440×137.
