Apr 1st – Deadline to Apply for Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Forty-five $1,000 grants are awarded each year. These awards are available to all University of Texas at Austin students, not just Phi Kappa Phi members.

Eligibility

As a University of Texas at Austin student, you are eligible to apply if you meet ALL of the following:

  • You have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Your study abroad program begins between May 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012
  • You have at least two semesters left at the University of Texas at Austin after the completion of your study abroad program
  • You have applied to or been accepted into an accredited study abroad program before April 1, 2011 and provide a letter of acceptance or a letter confirming your application, on official letterhead, as part of your application

Deadline and Notification

The completed application and supporting materials must be postmarked by April 1, 2011. Materials arriving after the deadline will not be considered. Winners will be notified by June 1, 2011.

Once the letter of acceptance and all of the requirements have been met, grants to awarded students will be dispersed no earlier than July 1, 2011 and no later than September 1, 2011.

Mar 3rd – CIBER Summer Programs in Hong Kong Info Session

Do you have any last minute questions regarding the study abroad application due on March 1st? If so, stop by the Undergraduate Program Office (UPO) in CBA 2.400 for a walk-in appointment with a study abroad coordinator.

Are you interested in applying to study abroad on a BBA exchange program next year but have not yet attended an info session before the March 1st application deadline? Or do you have a last-minute question about the application process?

Stop by the “Ask About Study Abroad” info table from February 14th – 25th to get your questions answered or to receive info session credit on the spot! The table will be available from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in front of the Undergraduate Program Office (CBA 2.400).

Feb 8th – Brazil and Singapore Study Abroad Info Session

The application deadline to study abroad on a BBA exchange program for Summer 2011, Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 is March 1, 2011. Country info session attendees will receive info session credit.

Are you a graduating senior and interested in traveling internationally for two months this summer while blogging from abroad? If so, read on! Deadline to apply is February 15th. More than 35,000 people travel the world on CIEE programs every year – studying, teaching, interning, working abroad. Spend your summer traveling with them and telling their CIEE stories!

Wonder where you’ll go and what you’ll do? Your two month journey may well start with a week in Thailand following students teaching English in an elementary school. Then, on to a week in Dublin with students preparing for a summer working in the U.S., then on to Botswana where CIEE students are examining issues related to public health in developing countries. You’ll also travel around the U.S., visiting and living with exchange students and their host families, students working in summer jobs, and CIEE alumni. You will tell the world their stories through video, photos, interviews, and blogs. CIEE will provide a daily stipend, airfare, video equipment, and help you to plan your itinerary. Mar 1st – Deadline to apply to be a UT Peace Ambassador in China

The Division of Student Affairs and the Office of the Dean of Students is offering a unique cultural exchange program to UT students, faculty and staff to visit China and Hong Kong in July 2011. The program, focused on Globalization in Education, provides participating students, faculty and staff an opportunity for profound academic dialogue, increased cultural awareness and interaction with peers, while touring historical sites and visiting Beijing’s finest universities.

Trip and Cost Information

  • Five trips to choose from. Prices range from approx. $1,680 to $3,460.
  • Cities include Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Xian, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Lhasa (Tibet).
  • Price includes international and domestic (in China) airline tickets, 4/5 star hotels, 3 meals/day, ground transportation, educational programs, historical site tours and tickets, travel insurance and guides.
