Apr. 15th – Deadline to Apply for Study Abroad Scholarship to Australia (ANU), Brazil, Chile, China, Singapore, and Thailand

McCombs students studying abroad during the Fall 2011 or Spring 2012 semester on a BBA exchange program to Australia (ANU), Brazil, Chile, China, Singapore, and Thailand are encouraged to apply for the CIBER Strategic Partners BBA Scholarship.  Up to 6 $2,000 scholarships will be awared to deserving students studying abroad on targeted BBA International Programs exchanges.

  • Scholarship Application Requirements: Students are required to complete an online application and submit a service proposal by the application deadline. Minimum 2.5 GPA.

Apr 6th – Study Abroad Funding Session

Studying abroad can be affordable! This session will cover tips on finding the best funding options, strategies to gauge the ”real cost” of study abroad, and the primary areas of study abroad funding. Session will be hosted by the UT STudy Abroad Office on Wednesday, April 6th from 10 – 11 a.m. in CPE 2.218. April 8th – Deadline to apply for Latinas Learning to Lead Program

Travel To Israel, A Once In A Lifetime Experience!

Latinas from Boston University, UC Irvine, UT Austin are invited to apply to the Latinas Learning to Lead Building Jewish Bridges on Campus Program.

In collaboration with the American Jewish Committee-Latino and Latin American Institute, Project Interchange and The David Project, the National Hispana Leadership Institute students will participate in a 3 part leadership training that will take place June 12-19 to Washington, DC and June 19-26 in Israel.

Program Purpose: The 2 week training experience will help students better understand and appreciate the various cultures, religions and ethnic groups that make up their university and so greatly contribute to American society

Curriculum: Together with their female Jewish peers who will also participate in this exciting program, students will identify common issues of concern and shared American values, and build intergroup relations that will enable them to work towards shared goals.

Requirements

• Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and not graduating before December 2011.
• A minimum of 30 semester college credits/hours by May 2011.
• A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Be 18-24 years of age.
• Demonstrate strong leadership as indicated by on campus and community volunteer and civic engagement.
• Have a strong commitment to Latina/o issues
• Be able to commit to the entirety of the program, including: attendance at all training sessions from June 12-17, 2011; mentoring component; & completion of a leadership project by the end of the fall semester/quarter.

-Be currently enrolled in one of the following universities: University of California, Irvine; University of Texas, Austin; Boston University
-Agree to complete a leadership project in their college campus by the end of the 2011 fall semester.

-Cost: All round trip airline travel, room and board, training costs and all classroom materials are at no cost to the participate with the support of sponsors.

All BBA and undergraduate iMPA students are encouraged to vote for their favorite photo by April 15th! It’s easy: just view the photos, choose your favorite one and vote! Only ONE vote per business student is allowed.

Apr 1st – Deadline to Apply for Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant

Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grants are designed to help support undergraduates as they seek knowledge and experience in their academic fields by studying abroad. Forty-five $1,000 grants are awarded each year. These awards are available to all University of Texas at Austin students, not just Phi Kappa Phi members.

Eligibility

As a University of Texas at Austin student, you are eligible to apply if you meet ALL of the following:

  • You have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • Your study abroad program begins between May 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012
  • You have at least two semesters left at the University of Texas at Austin after the completion of your study abroad program
  • You have applied to or been accepted into an accredited study abroad program before April 1, 2011 and provide a letter of acceptance or a letter confirming your application, on official letterhead, as part of your application

Deadline and Notification

The completed application and supporting materials must be postmarked by April 1, 2011. Materials arriving after the deadline will not be considered. Winners will be notified by June 1, 2011.

Once the letter of acceptance and all of the requirements have been met, grants to awarded students will be dispersed no earlier than July 1, 2011 and no later than September 1, 2011.
