10/19- Designing the Future Building a Sustainable Community for the Maasai People

Net Impact Undergrad is having a special guest speaker, Dr. Michael Garrison! He will be speaking on Wednesday, October 19th from 4-5:30PM in SAC 1.118. He will discuss his recent work with Africa’s Promise Village in designing a sustainable school and community center for the Maasai people in Kenya.

Dr. Garrison has served as the faculty sponsor of the 2002 and 2005 Solar Decathlon competitions administered by the U.S. Department of Energy and has received numerous grants and awards, including ones from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Austin Energy’s Green Building Program. Also, he was the past chair of the Resource Management Commission for the City of Austin, a founding member of the Texas Solar Energy Society, and research fellow of the UT Center for Sustainable Development.

10/4- Net Impact Undergrad General Meeting

Net Impact Undergrad will have a general meeting on Tuesday, October 4th in room CBA 4.344 from 6-7PM.

Go Green Squads is a leader in the energy efficiency industry in Central Texas. They provide energy audits, upgrades and education to educate people about energy solutions and to ensure that necessary measures are successfully implemented.

Susan Meredith will be our speaker for the meeting. She and a partner combined their expertise and started Go Green Squads LLC. She is an engineer and MBA, and published “Beyond Light Bulbs: Lighting the Way to Smarter Energy Management” to educate on all aspects on the energy solution in layman’s terms.

Mary Priddy will be our speaker for the meeting. She is a part of the Austin Climate Protection Program, which focuses on making Austin the leading city in the nation in the fight against climate change. Come out to hear our speaker talk about her experience in the program and get some free food!

Faculty Lead Discussion

Net Impact Undergrad will be sponsoring a faculty lead discussion with Professor Clay Spinuzzi. Professor Spinuzzi is an associate professor of rhetoric and will be discussing his work analyzing both formal and in-formal communication channels in CO-OP work spaces, as well as in more traditional corporate environments. Professor Spinuzzi has written two books on the subject, Network and Tracing Genres through Organizations, with a third forthcoming. This is the first year we will be filming and posting the discussion to our website for future reference and use! The discussion will be on Wednesday, September 21st at 4pm in SAC 3.114.

Come listen to a conversation between Dean Gilligan and President of ESPN & ABC Sports, George Bodenheimer. George Bodenheimer was named one of Businessweek’s “Most Influential People in Sports”, Sports Business Journal’s “Sports Executive of the Year”, and has been a key contributor to ESPN and ABC Sports’ tremendous success over the past two decades. August 23rd – Gone to Business!

Attention all new BBA students! Please join us on Tuesday, August 23rd for the Gone to Business event before UT’s Gone to Texas welcome. Check-in starts at 6:00 at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center on the corner of MLK and University Drive. A networking fair will take place in the McCombs School of Business featuring all of the BBA Student Organizations. Free food and a chance to jump start your leadership and involvement on campus!

Dress for the event is causal. We recommend that you wear the Business t-shirt you received at orientation.  We will be walking to Gone to Texas after our event.  Questions? Contact the Office of Student Life at 512-232-5557.
