Hook ‘Em, Rio!
What a great two weeks for Longhorns in Rio de Janeiro. Longhorns earned a total of 13 medals in Rio, 10 of them gold, placing UT in a tie for 7th among all nations in number of gold medals earned.
Business Time in Rio
Ryan Crouser, MSF ’16, not only earned a gold medal in shot put, he also set a world record, throwing the 16-pound shot put 22.52 meters (that’s over 73′). While at UT, Ryan was a four-time NCAA Shot Put Champion and nine-time All-American. Way to go, Ryan!
Former Business Student Olympian Retires
Although she wasn’t able to compete in Rio and had to retire due to injury, Sanya Richards-Ross is a forever champion. She won gold in the London 2012 games, and three Olympic gold medals in the 4×400 meter, from Athens, Beijing, and London. She also took bronze in Beijing in 2008. She closes her career being a six-time USA Outdoor champion and the 2003 NCAA 400m champion, among many other awards and achievements. Hook ‘Em and thank you, Sanya, for making McCombs and USA proud!
