Texas FIRST is now recruiting officers for 2012-2013! Texas FIRST is an organization of the Volunteer and Service Learning Center, whose mission is to connect first year students to UT and the Austin community through service. The group meets weekly through the fall and spring semesters – they participate in an average of 2 service events and 2 social events per month, some planned within the group and some in partnership with other student organizations. We’re looking for motivated student leaders with a passion for service and a desire to help first year students connect with UT!
Officers are responsible for planning and running meetings, creating a fun and open atmosphere for the group’s first-year membership, planning socials and service events, informing members of relevant campus events, and recognizing the good work of members. Time commitment is a weekly one-hour meeting, as well as weekend/weeknight events on a rotating basis with other exec board members. All undergraduate students who will have sophomore status by August 2012 are eligible to apply!
