How did your educational experience change you?
I never had to study in high school, but that changed in college. The students around me were very bright, and I definitely had to study and be competitive. I think that changed my outlook on the future and gave me a stronger work ethic.

Maria Pineda, BBA ’08, graduated 30 years after she first set foot in a University of Texas at Austin classroom. She and her husband came to the university, sight unseen, in 1978, after earning associate’s degrees from a Laredo junior college. They were both majoring in business and were eager to start classes.
