It’s About Who You Know: Research Project Seeks McCombs Alumni for Networking Study

July 16th, 2009 · Alumni News · Posted by Christine Burdell

From Adrian Matthys, BA in Anthropology ’97

Everyone knows that, in addition to hard work, your network is critical to helping you get ahead professionally. Some of the most important members of your network are often your fellow McCombs graduates, helping to keep you informed about potential opportunities or offering that bit of industry news on upcoming trends. I am working on a master’s thesis project to gain a greater understanding of how we form our networks and use them to get ahead. Over the next few months, I will be taking a closer look at how business school alumni communicate and interact with one another to form and maintain networks post-graduation and the advantages that these networks bring to members.

I am currently looking for 30 to 40 graduates who are willing to participate in face-to-face or telephone discussions about their alumni network relationships and activities with former McCombs classmates. If you are interested in being a part of this project about alumni networking, please feel free to contact me for more details about the study and to set up an interview date and time. All study participants are guaranteed anonymity as the identities of subjects will be kept confidential.
