From CeCe Ridder, Director of Student Life at McCombs

Are you a Texas accounting grad and interested in promoting diversity at McCombs? If so, we encourage you to volunteer for the teen Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) being held July 12-17.  ACAP welcomes 40-50 high school students, primarily Latino/a and African American, each year to UT from across the state of Texas.

On Tuesday, July 14 from 11-1, we will have “speed interviews” in the Texas Union Santa Rita Suite. Students will rotate around the room asking questions to professionals such as yourself, giving you the opportunity to tell your story, talk about your career and give advice on college selection.

While all professionals are welcome, our students would especially benefit from the advice of our Hispanic and African American alumni. Please send me an email if you or someone you know may be interested in volunteering. I look forward to hearing from you!

The Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) partners with Ernst & Young, LLP, The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business and The National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), to provide students with an opportunity to meet UT faculty, become familiar with the campus, learn about diverse careers in accounting, attend hands-on workshops and take field trips to Austin-area firms. Funded by Ernst & Young for the past eight years, the successful camp draws gifted, diverse students into the University, and in turn, into the recruiting pool for E&Y.
