Will and Beverly O’Hara have pledged $16 million to the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, the largest individual gift to the school since Red McCombs donated his name and $50 million eight years ago.

“We have a favorite quote,” said Will O’Hara, who graduated from the business school in 1968, became an executive at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and later returned to lecture at the McCombs School. “‘The goal in life is not to live forever. The goal is to create something that does.’” Read more.

My hat is off to Mr. O’Hara. Accounting is the backbone of business and the Class of ‘68 was a great year. I too graduated in 1968 from UT. Wish I had known Will.

I fortunately had the pleasure to have Mr. O’Hara as a professor for two semesters. He undoubtedly left a lasting impression on every student he came across including me. What a special, intelligent, and humble person whose humanity is rivaled by few. He knew every students name and was not only a teacher of academic knowledge, but a mentor of life as well. The University of Texas and the Longhorn Nation should be honored to be acquainted with the Mr. and Mrs. O’Hara.

This is indeed remarkable gift from O’Hara family. The vision that O’Hara and numerous others have for education and this country is what made this country great!
