This fall we welcome two new professors to the Department:  Ronghou Zheng and Nicholas Hallman have both joined us as Assistant Professors.

Originally from Wenzhou, China (the birthplace of China’s private economy), Ronghuo Zheng came to Austin because of McCombs’ outstanding accounting program. He is very excited to come to a university where the faculty members excel in both teaching and researching. Zheng’s current research focuses are executive compensation and corporate governance, specifically how strategic interaction between the shareholders, the board of directors, and the managers affects managerial incentives. When he’s not teaching or doing research, Professor Zheng enjoys running, especially around Lady Bird Lake. He also enjoys music and cannot wait to partake in ACL and SXSW.
Nicholas (Nick) Hallman is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. The University of Texas at Austin was Professor Hallman’s first choice for schools. The university’s amazing accounting program combined with its fantastic location made for a combination that was hard to beat. Professor Hallman’s main area of research is audit. When he’s not teaching or doing research, Hallman enjoys fencing. He’s even been by the UT fencing club a couple of times. Though, he has had less time to practice between the arrival of his first child and starting his new position. Besides fencing, Hallman also loves trying new places to eat and he’s very excited to begin experiencing Austin’s unbeatable food scene.
