Eric Chan Wins Best Paper Award
New Assistant Professor, Eric Chan, won the Best Paper Award at the 2016 Management Accounting Section Midyear Meeting for his solo-authored paper, “Promotion, Relative Performance Information, and the Peter Principle.” This paper served as Eric’s doctoral dissertation and examines the effects of providing workers with relative performance information (RPI) on employers’ promotion decisions and the impact of those decisions on worker performance. His results found both positive and negative impacts from workers who have RPI and he discusses possible solutions to mitigate the problems he identified.

Brian White Receives CBA Foundation Research Excellence Award
Dean Hartzell has announced that Brian White is the co-recipient of the McCombs Research Excellence Award for Assistant Professors.
This year’s award recipients will be recognized at the faculty meeting and luncheon on Tuesday, April 26th. Winners receive a plaque in recognition of the award and a $1,250 stipend
Steve Goodson Reappointed to IIA and ACGA Committees
Lecturer Steve Goodson was recently reappointed to the Institute of Internal Auditor’s (IIA) Global Committee, also known as the Committee for Research and Education Advisors (CREA). CREA is the think tank of the IIA, providing up to date research and education materials for the internal audit professional.
In addition, Steve was appointed to continue to serve on the Advisory Committee of the American Center for Governmental Auditing (ACGA). IN 2014, Steve helped establish the ACGA as an IIA volunteer. The ACGA, a part of the IIA, focuses on providing guidance and support to government auditors in the U.S.
From the ACGA website: “The mission of the American Center for Government Auditing is to advance the professional practice of auditing in the public sector by advocating its value through timely and relevant thought leadership, communication, collaboration, and education.”
